Welcome to the Green Building Resources page. The intent of this section of the website is to provide building managers and proprietors with the resources they need to improve their operations and facilities to be more efficient and sustainable.
Improvement can be approached in many ways. While some building upgrades can be very expensive and difficult to implement, there are simpler and less costly approaches that are tied to maintenance and operational practices, and employee behaviors. The latter approaches generally result in not only similar, and sometimes even greater, efficiencies, but more importantly, tend to produce longer lasting, sustainable results. Once the occupants of a building have made a paradigm shift to take an active role in the maintenance of their working environment, the efficiencies realized can be sustained through continuing education, reward and reinforcement.
Physical building improvements must be subjected to some form of cost-benefit, or return-on-investment analysis before implementation, which is all the more difficult in our time of tight budgets and scrutiny of public spending. With these Green Building Resources COS would like to offer County departments and other local government agencies as much information and as many potential solutions for efficiency and sustainability as possible, so that we can all realize the greatest results with minimal cost.
