In September 2006, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law Assembly Bill 32: California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32). AB 32 requires that by 2020 the state's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions be reduced to 1990 levels.
